The new payroll application from Xero answers the needs of those who want a simple, efficient and effective way to deliver streamlined payroll information. Initially launched for smaller businesses with up to 10 employees, the module works alongside other Xero functions, and automatically updates accounts in Xero, with no need to duplicate data entry.
In its first few months, more than £200 million of employee pay was handled via Payroll in Xero, with the software being further fine-tuned in response to feedback.
The system has been designed with the future in mind, and is capable of handling the workplace pensions innovations coming down the line, known as auto enrollment. And it is at the end of the formal HMRC approval process for payroll processes, with an official addition to the approved list of suppliers due imminently.
Xero has promised its innovative approach will help shake up payroll in the same way it has modernised other aspects of accountancy in UK small business.
