How to set a letter out, it’s not just about formatting a word document, it is about where the elements of a letter should be.

Some companies use a pre-printed letter head, possibly provided when you started your business or when you had a logo designed, business cards or a website. Some of these things come as a package, which is good as the more that is printed the cheaper it is.

However, we still need to know where to place the elements of a letter. The elements here are


  • Your Reference
  • Our Reference
  • Our Business Name and Address
  • The person we are writing to, their Business Name and Address
  • Date
  • ‘yours faithfully’ v ‘yours sincerely’.
